How-to : Install yasdp (Yet Another Shutdown Plasmoid) on kde 4

yasdp

Introduction

I just loved this plasmoid as a quick way to shutdown, reboot or lock my computer : This is a quick guide to istall it on KDE 4.

1 Download sources

Download the sources or packaged version :

(i go got it from kde-look.org)

wget 'http://kde-look.org/content/download.php?content=126013&id=1&tan=3301210&PHPSESSID=86ba6d8b88a6136e7d16d8ebaf1fa3ee'

2 Install required packages

required packages on a fedora 15 box (fedora 15 ; KDE 4.6.3; kernel 2.6.38.8-35.fc15.x86_64)

The list :

  1. gcc-c++
  2. kdelibs-devel.x86_64
  3. kdelibs.x86_64
  4. kdebase-workspace-devel.x86_64

Install them with the following line :

yum install -yq gcc-c++ kdelibs-devel.x86_64 kdelibs.x86_64 kdebase-workspace-devel.x86_64

Untar the archive :

tar -xvzf yasdp-0.9.2.tar.gz

Make the install script executable :

cd yaSDP && chmod 700 install.sh

Finally, launch the install.sh script and the widget should appears in the widget list :

./install.sh

Update : I recently had to re-install this plasmoid, and it happens to comes out with NO ICONS!You can specify custom icons using the YaSDP setup menu, but you have to gice it some .png  or any common file type, no svg! I personally love the icon from the oxygen theme, and they actually are the one that are used by default on this plasmoid. They are in /usr/share/icons/oxygen/48x48/actions/.
