How-to : Install amarokcollectionscanner on a CentOS 6.2 i686 box

This post will (i hope) help you installing the amarok utility amarokcollectionscanner on a CentOS 6.2 box.

amarokcollectionscanner is the utility needed to launch a scan of your music collection in batch mode, as for me, those who have their music on a server which share it to the whole house may need this.

Note : There is yet not built package (as of march 2012) of amarok-utils for CentOS 6.2.

1 Pre-requisite

The amarok-utils that suits the CentOS 6.2 is amarok-utils-2.3.0-5.fc13.i686.rpm, to install the package you will need to first install the following:

  1. taglib-extras-1.0.1-2.fc15.i686.rpm
  • Use the following command to achieve this:
    $(wget && rpm -Uvh taglib-extra*

2 Installation

  • Once you got the only required package you may be able to install the amarok-utils-2.3.0-5.fc13.i686.rpmpackage using the following command:
    $(wget && rpm -Uvh amarok-utils*

3 The good ol’one-liner

A working one-liner should looks like:

$(wget && $(wget && rpm -Uvh taglib-extra* amarok-utils*

Here we go!
