How-to : MP3 support for Amarok on a fedora 15 x86_64 box

Introduction

It is not supposed to be complicated but … I still have issue from times to times, so …

 

 

 

 

 

1 Pre-requisite

1.1 Repositories

To enable support of mp3 and others proprietary codecs you need the following repo enabled:

  1. rpmfusion-free (find it here)
  2. rpmfusion-free-updates (find it here)

 

1.2 Packages

To enable support of mp3 and others proprietary codecs you need the following packages to be installed:

  gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly

 

2 The good ol’one-liner

A working one-liner should looks like:

yum enablerepo=rpmfusion-free* install gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly
